  1. I want to congratulate you on taking the rather bold but excellent move on showing the Vagina Monologues last night. I first saw it at the Playhouse Theatre, Oxford about 20 years ago and found it then thoughtful and entertaining. Now, at 61 years old, and seeing it again, I again found it entertaining and thought-provoking, and believe it is a play that all adult women should see and discuss. The section on the appalling systematic rape in Bosnia was especially poignant, especially juxtaposing the ‘poetic verse’ of a young woman’s life (pre-rape) in her rural community with her feelings about herself after rape. Of course, some parts may seem shocking, which is not surprising when talking about ‘vaginas’ or other names for them which is a topic rarely discussed.
The play was well performed and the evening very enjoyable, ending with joyful dancing.
So well done Cowley Women’s Group – and Happy International Women’s Day!
